Trump Moving Forward on Promises
President Donald Trump is moving forward on key campaign promises he made to the American people:
About Those JCC Bomb Threats
When bomb threats were made against Jewish community centers and other Jewish institutions across the U.S. in recent weeks, the mainstream media and the liberal wing of the Jewish community were quick to claim that President Trump was responsible for the so-called rise in anti-Semitism since the election.
As Evelyn Gordon points out, the arrest of an American-Israeli teen in Israel for making those threats should have ended that narrative. In fact, Gordon demonstrates that the wave of threats was caused and continued by the media’s hysterical reaction to those threats:
Police sources told Haaretz that the teen’s main goal appears to have been obtaining media coverage… For the past few months, the Israeli police sources said, he has focused all his energy on threatening Jewish institutions in the U.S., because he knew that would create the media outcry he wanted.
That same Haaretz report credits pressure from the Trump administration for the teen’s capture. As the Jerusalem Post explains, the U.S. sent FBI resources to Israel to assist with the case:
[Soon] 14 FBI agents and technical experts arrived in Israel and held a series of meetings at the Lod headquarters of Lahav 433, Israel’s elite police investigative unit, where they discussed the gaps in locating the suspect.
Moreover, the FBI brought sophisticated technology to the investigation that the Israel Police did not have access to previously, which turned out to be essential in locating the suspect.
This week, Jewish Republican Congressman David Kustoff (R-TN) introduced the “Combating Anti-Semitism Act of 2017,” which would increase federal penalties for bomb threats and other threats of violence against religious institutions.
The Times of Israel notes:
This bipartisan legislation would amend the Church Arson Prevention Act enacted in 1996 to ensure that individuals who make bomb threats and other “credible threats” of violence based on the religious nature of the target can be prosecuted for committing a hate crime.
Ambassador Nikki Haley – Leading the Fight Against Anti-Israel Bias at the UN
The U.S. delegation at the United Nations continues to stand up for Israel there.
Last Friday, the Trump administration’s deputy representative to the UN, Michele Sison, strongly condemned the UN’s systemic anti-Israel bias. She spoke at a Security Council session to hear the first report issued under UNSC Res. 2334, which the Obama administration allowed to pass last December. Earlier that day, the U.S. voted against five anti-Israel resolutions at the UN Human Rights Council.
Following the principled lead of the U.S., the United Kingdom also objected to the Council’s bias against Israel and voted against the five anti-Israel resolutions.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley spoke at the “Ambassadors Against BDS” conference at the United Nations on Wednesday, calling BDS “a movement away from truth and away from history.”
Haley has earned the enthusiastic support and gratitude of the pro-Israel community. (See her appearance at the AIPAC Policy Conference here.)

Among other steps, the measure would impose mandatory sanctions on those involved in Iran’s ballistic missile program and apply terrorism sanctions to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
New Anti-BDS Legislation Introduced
The Israel Anti-Boycott Act, introduced by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) would penalize international NGOs and foreign countries that boycott, divest from or sanction Israel for its policies with the Palestinians.
How To Counter Political Islam
Ayaan Hirsi Ali examines political Islam as an ideology, how its adherents try to expand its reach, and how the West can counter it.
