MAYOR TOM MILLS, AUTHOR & CANDIDATE:
THIS ARTICLE IS NOT ABOUT TOM MILLS AND HIS NEW EDITION OF “THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA.”
It is about the Former Mayor of Palm Beach Shores who’s now running for re-election by request of some of the old time residence of the island, and how he got this town on the map, and named, “THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA”. I personally know Tom Mills, and he accepted to give me the right to write and publish this information after a couple (more than one) conversations with him.
Tom was born in East York a suburb of Toronto out of school started flying Airborne Geophysical Surveys with a company called Kenting Aviation. In 1963 he migrated to “Silicone Valley” in California for employment with Fairchild Semiconductors. With the start up of ITT Semiconductors located in West Palm Beach, he decided again to relocate, and eventually worked his way up thought the ranks to the the position of World Wide marketing manager for ITT Semiconductors. He finished his electronic career as Vice President and Director of marketing for the Electromotive Corp,, He then brought his family to this darling island town called ”PALM BEACH SHORES”. He and his family lived at a marina (CANNONSPORT MARINA), which he finally bought in 1979; He remained “Owner-Operator” with his family Joan (wife), Russell, Pam, and Linda, and later Daniel and Bill, all members of the family. Each member of the family had their specific jobs to keep the Hotel Marina in perfect operating order.
Tom served on the Palm Beach Shores Volunteer Fire Department roughly 14 years and ultimately as the assistant Chief, he was asked to serve on the town commission, then Vice Mayor, and was eventually asked to run for Mayor in the town of Palm Beach Shores, which he did, and won. He currently holds the position of the mayor with the longest running history of mayors in Palm Beach Shores (13 yr.). Many citizens believe that Palm Beach Shores is loosing its status as “The Best Little Town in Florida”, and seemingly becoming a part of the normal “BIG CITY” routine, Tom has again been requested again by many citizens to run for Mayor, and will work to keep that title (THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA) for this town.
Here are a few pictures of his accomplishments during his tenure with his home town employees, commissioners, and appointees….

(FOR MORE ABOUT TOM MILLS:):
One of the big issues of this race is the reforming district B on Ocean Avenue. One or two of the things that the people that might vote for it are,
1. if the population density which is already now over the limit, the road front of ocean on the west side will have to be taken by eminent domain to supply adequate ability for the ocupants to leave in the event of an emergency.
2. It would be a blatant violation of the 14th Amendment of the United States of America to not include all of the current district “B”.
3. This would no doubt incite a lawsuit that could cost the town millions in a “Federal Court” in spite of the Florida State laws. It would be wise to think about your vote.
