Mayoral Race in Palm Beach Shores

Tom start with Fairchild Semiconductors in the early days of California’s Silicon Valley as Engineer and Senior Engineer. He was pirated away by ITT Semiconductors to their new headquarters in West Palm Beach, there he  enjoyed positions as Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager and Military Marketing Manager. Promotion to the Lawrence Mass facility where he held  Product Line Manager for Special Products and then Consumer Products Manager, then another move to NY City with title as the World Wide Marketing Manager.  Enjoyed every  minute of travel. So much travel entailed that he did not have to pay either City or State income tax because of being out of state (and country) less than the required days necessary. Tom opened new markets in the Far East, South America, South Africa, Scandinavia and Europe. He left ITT to take position as V.P. and Director of Marketing of the Electromotive Corporation.   He retired and purchased Cannonsport Marina which he, with his family operated for the next 27 years.

The Port of Palm Beach Post did try diligently to get a video of Myra’s platform, and as hard as we both tried, we could not get it done in time. That having been said, here is her publicly released information.

Singer Island Rotary Club, Palm Beach Shores (POA)

The Singer Island Rotary had its annual pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday January 10th, 2015 at the Palm Beach Shores Community Center in the Thomas R. Mills Community room. This annual event is sponsored to raise monies for the successful scholarship program. This program was developed to help deserving students to attain the education that they desire in the field that they excel in.

Your support of the Rotary events supports this and other worthy causes. After the breakfast there was an art show on the ground floor where the attendees of the Rotary Club’s breakfast could appreciate the art and maybe buy a piece or two.
Don’t forget, the Singer Island Rotary Club meets every Friday at the Sail Fish Marina at 12:15. in Palm Beach Shores. There is always good food and atmosphere with a group of friendly people.
In addition remember the Palm Beach Shores POA Annual chowder tasting event on January 24th, 2015 at 6pm at the Palm Beach Shores Community Center $5 members, $10 non members, and the annual Rotary Gala Ball, February 20, 2015, at the Palm Beach Shores Community Center the cost for the Ball is $75.00 donation. Thanksgiving on Singer Island, Florida

Thanksgiving in Palm Beach Shores
Thanksgiving in Palm Beach Shores was a joyous occasion. It is a time to reflect on all those things that the Lord has given us, and to share with others that my not be as fortunate.
Our day started off with my normal bicycle ride, and breakfast. Then I attended the annual walk, run, and jog event at the MARRIOT’S OCEAN POINT in PALM BEACH SHORES, FL.
This event started about the same as the Macy’s Thanks Givings Day Parade. There were 145 contestants in the race.

To see the  race video (CLICK HERE).

After the walk, run, and jog event I joined the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was covered by NBC, and was an excellent event including such notables as The Rockets, Lucy Hale, Becky G, The Sesame Street cast, Ronald McDonald for his Charity, Nick Jones, The Smurfs, the Pillsbury Dough Boy, KISS, and many many more.

HOT MAYORAL RACE IN PALM BEACH SHORES!

Posted on by

MAYOR TOM MILLS, AUTHOR & CANDIDATE:

THIS ARTICLE IS NOT ABOUT TOM MILLS AND HIS NEW EDITION OF “THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA.”

It is about the Former Mayor of Palm Beach Shores who’s now running for re-election by request of some of the old time residence of the island, and how he got this town on the map, and named, “THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA”.  I personally know Tom Mills, and he accepted to give me the right to write and publish this information after a couple (more than one) conversations with him.

Tom was born in East York a suburb of Toronto out of school started flying Airborne Geophysical Surveys with a company called Kenting Aviation.  In 1963 he migrated to “Silicone Valley” in California for employment with Fairchild Semiconductors. With the start up of ITT Semiconductors located in West Palm Beach, he decided again to relocate, and eventually worked his way up thought the ranks to the the position of World Wide marketing manager for ITT Semiconductors. He finished his electronic career as  Vice President and Director of marketing for the Electromotive Corp,, He then brought his family to this darling island town called ”PALM BEACH SHORES”He and his family lived at a marina (CANNONSPORT MARINA),  which he finally bought in 1979; He remained “Owner-Operator” with his family Joan (wife), Russell, Pam, and Linda, and later Daniel and Bill, all members of the family. Each member of the family had their specific jobs to keep the Hotel Marina in perfect operating order.

Tom served on the Palm Beach Shores Volunteer Fire Department roughly 14 years and ultimately as the assistant Chief, he was asked to serve on the town commission, then Vice Mayor, and was eventually asked to run for Mayor in the town of Palm Beach Shores, which he did, and won. He currently holds the position of the mayor with the longest running history of mayors in Palm Beach Shores (13 yr.). Many citizens believe that Palm Beach Shores is loosing its status as “The Best Little Town in Florida”, and seemingly becoming a part of the normal “BIG CITY” routine, Tom has again been requested again by many citizens to run for Mayor, and will work to keep that title (THE BEST LITTLE TOWN IN FLORIDA) for this town.

Here are a few pictures of his accomplishments during his tenure with his home town employees, commissioners, and appointees….

One of the big issues of this race is the reforming district B on Ocean Avenue. One or two of the things that the people that might vote for it are,

1. if the population density which is already now over the limit, the road front of ocean on the west side will have to be taken by eminent domain to supply adequate ability for the ocupants to leave in the event of an emergency.

2. It would be a blatant violation of the 14th Amendment of the United States of America to not include all of the current district “B”.

3. This would no doubt incite a lawsuit that could cost the town millions in a “Federal Court” in spite of the Florida State laws. It would be wise to think about your vote.

The pictures, and article are taken and written by George Black JR. The election data was taken from the Supervisor of Elections data.

HIDDEN TREASURE

We had a beautiful tree lighting ceremony at the Town Hall with some of the local politicians, and many of the town people. Palm Beach Shores is a wonderful place to live with many friendly people. There was singing and a few speeches given at the tree lighting ceremony and a beautiful manger seen. I hope we can keep the true spirit of the season in mind in spite of some unfortunate incidents.
