Now Accepting Applications for Annual Chamber Scholarship

The Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce has established the John C. Giba Student Leadership Award Program to encourage, recognize and reward selected area High School seniors who have demonstrated strong leadership potential through a combination of scholastic excellence, community service, and extra-curricular activities. The PBN Chamber recognizes these students at the Annual Education Awards breakfast in May with a plaque and a monetary gift.  Money for the gifts is derived from the income of an Endowment Program established under the Foundation of the Chamber, a private non-profit foundation.
John C. Giba, a Jupiter-Tequesta businessman, believed in the importance of student leadership through education. The PBN Chamber Foundation was formed to oversee the endowment established by Mr. Giba’s donation, and is committed to investing in the educational future of our youth.

Applications must be received in the Chamber office by April 12, 2017.

Beth Kigel (PBN Chamber), Adam Herold (Kickstartists), and Jan Cairnes (Hanley Foundation – YEA! Presenting Sponsor)
Last week, the PBN Chamber Foundation hosted the annual Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA!) Investor Panel at FAU’s Jupiter Campus. This event showcased the 10 startup business the YEA! class of 2016-2017 has been  working on since October. Students took the stage in a “shark tank” style format, and pitched their businesses to a group of local business leaders and owners, known as the ‘Investor Panel’ to compete for real start-up capital to launch their businesses.
Each business was awarded various amounts of start-up funding. Students Kennedi English & Adam Herold claimed the additional honor of being selected as the YEA! Saunders Semi-Finalist for the Palm Beach North region. Their business Kickstartists will move onto YEA!’s regional competition for a chance to compete in the final round of the Saunders Scholars Competition in Rochester, New York.

Left to right: Sabrina Gagnon, Donna Barnette, Sara Boron, and Cindi Tomasek

Bala Boutique was created by Donna and Sara in 2015. They wanted to create a place where a mother and daughter (of any age) could shop together, and get an amazing gift for under $50. Bala works a lot with independent, local artisans as well as the Fair Trade Community. They love giving back to our community and strive to keep things fresh in both locations, by putting out new merchandise multiple times a week.
