A tour of Historic Peanut Island. Peanut Island was made from the sand and rock that was cleared as the inlet to the Port of Palm Beach was deepened, and widened. It was for a time the secret emergency bunker for President John F. Kennedy during the cold war, and in the event of a nuclear catastrophic event. The remnants of the Kennedy Compound remain; however, are in need of serious repair if the compound is to be claimed as a historic landmark.
